Internship Course Training Overview
The Brathan Music LLC internship program is designed to provide students with practical insight into the business, technical, and professional aspects of the music field. Through structured training and applied learning, students will develop an understanding of how music is registered, published, distributed, licensed, tracked, recorded, and mixed for both studio and live performance environments.
Students will explore the administrative and commercial processes involved in managing and distributing music, including:
-
Song Registration: Understanding how musical compositions are registered with the appropriate organizations to establish ownership records and support the collection of royalties.
-
Music Publishing: Learning how musical compositions are managed, administered, promoted, and monetized, including the role of songwriters, publishers, and publishing administrators.
-
Music Distribution: Exploring how recorded music is delivered to streaming platforms, digital retailers, and other outlets for public access and consumption.
-
Music Licensing: Understanding how permission is granted for music to be used in film, television, advertising, digital media, and other commercial or creative applications.
-
Royalty and Tracking Reports: Learning how music usage, performance activity, distribution data, and royalty statements are monitored and reviewed to help track earnings and identify discrepancies.
Students will examine the technical processes involved in preparing music for recorded releases and live performances. Training will distinguish between studio mixing and live sound mixing, emphasizing their different objectives, equipment, and working environments.
-
Studio Recording and Mixing: Exploring the recording process and the techniques used to balance individual tracks, adjust levels, shape tone, apply effects, and combine vocals and instruments into a polished recording.
-
Live Sound Mixing and Engineering: Understanding how sound engineers manage microphones, instruments, mixing consoles, monitors, and sound reinforcement systems to deliver a clear, balanced, and consistent performance for a live audience.
Upon completing these training components, students should have a stronger foundational understanding of music business operations, intellectual property administration, distribution and licensing processes, royalty tracking, and the technical differences between studio production and live sound engineering.
The program is intended to connect academic learning with practical applications, helping students build knowledge and professional skills that can support future opportunities in music, entertainment, production, and related creative fields.
